Conclusion: The enzyme catalase is a common enzyme in animal and plant tissues.. Something we do not understand from our lab is why the frozen potato had more enzymatic activity compared to the raw potato control group. On average the frozen potatoes produced one more milliliter of O2 bubbles.
Potato Lab Dr. Peano Block 1 Introduction: Potatoes are just your average food; they have been around for as long as the human race can remember. In this lab we will make them be a prime example of osmosis, which is a transport mechanism. In this lab the problem being tested was what environment affects the mass of the potatoes the most.
Potato Osmosis Lab Report Abstract: In this experiment was designed to study the effect of a concentrated solution applied to white and sweet potatoes. The solution’s impact among the potatoes were to be either hypertonic, hypotonic, or isotonic. The potatoes were first cut into fries with a fry cutter, and then weighed after being cut. Conclusion In conclusion it was proven that on average, the potatoes that were in the test tube containing little to no sucrose solution gained in mass, and those that were in test tubes containing more or only sucrose had a decrease in mass.In test tubes five and six, the potato core increased in size by 1mm and 2mm and is heavier by .122g to .183g than the original (see attached table and graphs). Discussion. My hypothesis was that the potato core will increase in size when it is hypertonic to the salt solution. I also predicted the potato will decrease in size when it is hypotonic.
Conclusion. My hypothesis was: if the russet potato contains enough electrons, then the light bulb will light because the potato has the ability to generate electricity. My hypothesis was incorrect. Throughout my experiment none of the potatoes lit either the light bulb or the LED light.Read More

Conclusion In our hypothesis we predicted that due to the temperature, the catalase and hydrogen peroxide would have a slower reaction in the frozen and raw potatoes; due to higher temperatures in the boiled and baked, the catalase and hydrogen peroxide would have a faster reaction.Read More
Osmosis Osmosis is a kind of diffusion which only occurs with water. With osmosis, there is a membrane which does not allow dissolved material to pass though it but only water (selectively permeable) Osmosis is the movement of water molecules from a weak solution to a strong solution.Read More
